Find and put away the Halloween decorations.
Save what is in the Halloween tote and where it lives. Bring the right set out in October, put it back in November, and next year the record is still right.

What are you looking for?
Search for the item. The result names the tote and its shelf.
Example
One tote, two dated tasks, and the same search next year.
HAL-01 has one spot and two dated tasks with a Where. The porch photo is your own reference for how it looked. DrawerPilot keeps the record, not the arrangement.

How it works
Three steps, start to finish.
- 1Record the totePhotograph the open tote or type the contents: three fabric pumpkins and the porch bunting. Name the spot HAL-01 and save its place, Garage · Middle left shelf.
- 2Give the weekend a taskAdd "Find HAL-01 on the middle left shelf" for Jordan, due Oct 3, with the Where set to the shelf. With notifications on, Jordan gets a push or email when it is assigned and a reminder the day before.
- 3Put it back and update the recordOn Nov 1 the task is "Return the Halloween decorations to HAL-01" for Alex. If the tote lands somewhere else, move the items to the new spot so the record is right next year.
One limit. The record does not update itself. If the tote goes back to a different shelf, move the items, or next year’s search points at the old shelf.
What it does.
- One tote, one spot. The record says Garage · Middle left shelf. Anyone in the household can search it.
- Dated tasks with a Where. The bring-out and put-away tasks carry the shelf, so the person knows where to look.
- The same record next year. Update the spot or the contents when they change and the same search works in a year.
FAQ
Common questions.
Do I have to record every decoration?
No. Record the tote and the few things you look for: the pumpkins, the bunting. Small items can stay a note on the bin.
Can someone else find the Halloween box?
Yes, if they are in the household. Invitations are part of Pro; an invited adult searches the same record and sees the same shelf.
What should I save besides the contents?
The bin name, the shelf it lives on, and a photo on the spot if you want one. Keep it to what you will look for next year.
Will it still be useful after Halloween?
Yes. It is a storage record. Update the spot when the tote goes back and the same search works next October.
